The Northern Lights Medical Venturers is a program for youth aged 15-17 who are interested in Emergency Medicine and First Aid. This specialized vocational program gives youth the opportunity to learn and practice first aid skills in a controlled environment while volunteering at Scout camps and activities as well as at community events. The youth get direct support and leadership from medical professionals who volunteer their time and expertise with the group.
The group is registered with Scouts Canada, in the Northern Lights Council and draws members from across the Alberta Capital Region.
The Northern Lights Medical Venturers currently has 16 Youth Members. Our Advisors include medical professionals, such as EMRs, Primary Care and Advanced Care Paramedics and Doctors who help train and supervise our Youth Members. Our Members have proudly logged more than 2500 service hours this year, over and above their regular meetings and training, supporting community events and camps in and around the Capital Region.
